TIPO Extends AEPRe Pilot Program for Another Year, Effective September 1, 2026
[ September 03, 2026 ] >Back| The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) launched the pilot Accelerated Examination Program for Reexamination (AEPRe) on September 1, 2024. Since its launch, the average time from filing an AEPRe request to receiving an examination result has been just 24.5 days, demonstrating the effectiveness of the program. In view of the positive results, TIPO has decided to extend the pilot program for another year, beginning September 1, 2026. The AEPRe program applies to reexamination cases in which some claims were rejected during the examination while others were allowed. When filing a request for reexamination, applicants may proactively amend the claims, based on the grounds set out in the decision, to bring them within the scope found allowable during the examination, and then request accelerated examination in accordance with the applicable requirements.
